GOVERANCE | Women Empowerment |

For the development, a responsive system of Governance is always required. The representatives from the local Government and the community itself should be effective and efficient for managing the system with a participatory process maintaining transparency and accountability . SWAD focused on capacity building of the PRIs and the community leaders on rules and regulations of local Government and the Government schemes and programme for establishing good governance. | SWAD as a women organization focusing on women empowerment related activities from its inception and bring a visible change in the life of thousands of down trodden women in terms of awareness building, capacity building, augmenting the income and making them empowered for demanding for their rights and entitlements. |
Disaster Management | Livelihood promotion | SWAD experience near about ten floods, four heavy cyclones in its journey of and learn a great from each and every. So SWAD believe that disaster management is not only the preparedness, response, mitigation and recovery. It also includes ongoing development initiatives for resilience building. At present the intensity and frequency of the natural disaster increasingly increased by which the coping mechanism of the community cannot work properly. So to cope with the disaster and to reduce the vulnerability, SWAD focused on the community planning and its execution through linkage and support along with preparedness, response, mitigation and recovery. | The livelihood comprises the capacities, assets and activities required for strengthening means of living. SWAD always focused on the activities those trigger the way for a sustainable livelihood of the community. It implements the activities after the need assessment through participatory rural appraisal (PRA). SWAD established agriculture and its allied activities for the augmentation of livelihood and replicates it’s through linkage and supports different agencies. |
Environment protection | Women in Agriculture | Conservation of natural resources and the protection of existing environment is a biggest challenge now days due to the so many development factors. The involvement of local community, institutions, individuals and Government is required for managing environment. To reduce the degradation of natural resources, SWAD implemented different activities like plantation, renovation of water resources, sanitary well in 65 villages through a participatory approach and created good models for replication. | The women of the farming community involved in 50% of the work in farming areas. But their work has not taken in account by any one of the family. SWAD organized 500 farm women and build and strengthen their capacity on science based modern technology of agriculture and its application and enhanced the production. All the women also educated enough on market linkage and their rights and entitlements. In future they will be promoted as F.P.O and strengthen their livelihoods. |
Person with Disability (PWD) | Water and Sanitation | SWAD has taken the activities for the development of the persons with disability in every and each project and programmes. SWAD believes that without inclusive approach the development of the persons with disabilities is not possible. According by SWAD focused on the activities. | Water and Sanitation is the part of the human life in day to day activities. SWAD focused on the activities like cleaning and raising the base of drinking water sources, installation of tube well and sanitary well and educate on its maintenance proper storage and use of drinking water in house hold level and practicising the health hygiene practice at personal level and community level, building awareness on government schemes and programmes on water and sanitation, capacity building of the community level institution on water and sanitation practice. |
Climate change Adoption | The coastal community at present is vulnerable and as they are in high risk zone of natural disaster due to the impact of climate change. Adoption strategy to cope with the situation is only way for local community. SWAD implemented different activities which is existing natural resource based, renovation of dead water channels for irrigation, Drinking water supply from existing pond, creating farm pond for enhancing income and its replication, Rice fish cultivation, fruit bearing trees plantation for income generation. |
ACHIVEMENT | |

- 500 women are organised in 25 farmers groups and mobilised for enhancing their knowledge, skill on rice based cropping systems, TOT on soil testing and liasonning with different stakeholders for linkage. The members of 25 women farmers groups trained on PoP like, seed treatment, seedling preparation, transplantation, fertilizer management, process of good paddy seeds production and storage of good quality seeds by the methods “ learning by doing” | |
Eight percentage of women out of 500 members established their identity in agriculture and the leadership in rice crop management systems as they equipped with scientific, technical knowhow and handholding support. | |
The confidence among members of the 25 groups build up for the stress tolerant rice varieties seed selection, adoption and replication. | |
The Swarna Sub 1 paddy seeds is stoared by the SHG members as seeds for the Khariff 2019 among more than one thousand household in the same village, near by village and the relations of the group members. | |
1. The women farmers groups produced 275.6 quintals of flood tolerant seed Swarna Sub.The pest attack, blighted corn is very little due to selection of good seeds and its treatment.Timely and scientific suggestion has been taken by the women farmers from the scientist of the concerned department for managing their own vegetable crops, fishery tank, mushroom cultivation, poultry, goatry and cow rearing. |

2. SWAD has formed and strengthened 340 women Self Help Groups in these blocks. |

3. One block level women forum consisting 684 members registered and working for the socio- economic development of the marginalized community. As a result of which nearly 2300 women now got their identity and able to earn upto Rs. 300 to Rs. 4000/- per month. |

4. 122 Village Disaster Management Committees have been formed and strengthened and continuing their activities both at the time of emergencies and in normal condition focusing on preparedness measures. |

5. Through peoples forum the marginalized communities raised their voices and working for the better implementation and sustainable management of the infrastructure and mobilized the resources by real participation in decision making process. The marginalized section raised their voices for their rights and entitlements. |

6. Good rapport built up with the Govt., PRIs by which resource mobilization becoming nteers are trained on different subject like: First aid, search and rescue, HVCA, and micro planning and working for their village development. |

7. 500 PRI representatives of 3 blocks of Puri district sensitize and capacited on the subject like Rules and regulation of Panchayat raj systems, role and responsibilities of PRI representatives and different schemes and programme of the Government. |

8. Different models created by blending the traditional knowledge of the community and new technology, which are accepted by the Government and different International agencies. 10.56 infrastructure (Water Body) are renovated and developed for the water logging management and be productive. |
